hello again
Hello friends, sorry for my hiatus. Life was a bit crazy for a while so I had to take a break. My sister-in-law got married on May 26th and so the week before was full of wedding craziness and then a few days later Dusty and I headed up to our favorite campground in the the Redwoods and then I started a grant writing class and my summer internship so it's been nuts! I hope you're all doing beautifully! (Photo by me, the view of the rushing redwoods on the side of the road taken from the passenger seat, sort of what life feels like right now.)

school's out
Laguna Beach...where I wish I was right now.
Today was the last day of school where I work and despite the fact that I will continue working over the summer (at a different school) it was fun to be around the kids as their excitement abounded. Do you have fond last-day-of-school memories?

Procrastination
when I'm old I can be a slacker
I've been slacking in the school department lately. It's not like I'm doing badly or anything, I just feel like I don't have any energy for school work (even though I seem to have more than enough energy for everything else). How do you get yourself out of an unambitious rut?

Summer plans?
Believe it or not it's March, which means that spring is almost here which means that summer is really just around the corner. I really want to go up to the Redwoods again this summer; and Dusty and I need to get to New York ASAP to visit his younger sister, Erin. In between those two things I'm going to have to make time for statistics and work...how 'bout you? Do you have any plans for the warm months yet?

I've got the first-day-of-spring-semester-blues...
Aren't these 1950s school girls adorable? I wish classrooms still looked like that!
After two glorious months of winter break I am tragically back to school. It's not that I don't like school it's just that I like not going to school so much more. I find that the best way to deal with something dreadful is to make it as nice as possible. So this morning I made sure I was all set and organized before school, I had a gloriously large mug full of french pressed espresso, made sure to get to school extra early for optimal parking, and I even remembered to bring reading material to entertain myself while I waited for class to start. All in all the day went as well as it possibly could have. Thank goodness! What do you do when you don't want to do something? How do you make an icky day better?
